Girls struggle to identify with STEM careers because they rarely see women in those fields. Because cultural norms define STEM jobs as being better suited for men, Design Connect Create believes it is critical for STEM professionals to volunteer and share their stories. We need volunteers of all cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds and career fields to share their STEM journeys.
Volunteer Opportunities
STEM Professionals: Guest Speaker
Are you a female STEM professional who would like to volunteer (in person or virtually) in June or July by sharing your STEM journey with our program participants? If you are interested, contact us about volunteering.
STEM Professionals: Mentor
Are you a female STEM professional who would like to connect with students and inspire a girl during the school year? With your experience and help, high school girls selected for this program will establish and achieve both personal and professional goals.
Corporate and University Opportunities
Would your organization like to play a role in creating more equitable opportunities for girls in STEM? You can host a field trip or organize an employee panel of female STEM professionals to share insights about their careers. Or, introduce mentoring opportunities to your female employees.
Students Internship Opportunities
Are you a high school girl who would like to help other girls realize the power of STEM? Apply for a summer internship to assist teachers during our STEM camps.

Meet Volunteer Dr. Magan Lewis

Design Connect Create volunteer Dr. Magan Lewis knew she had a passion for STEM from a young age. From science fairs to science majors, she wanted to be a leader in feeding the world. Magan’s award-winning leadership and outreach passion has inspired her to launch quiz bowls, mentor young scientists globally through science and engineering fairs, co-found a STEM camp with her husband and volunteer as a mentor with Design Connect Create summer STEM Camps. Thanks to volunteers like Magan, we can help more girls realize the potential in STEM and themselves.
