Who We Are

 

Founded in 2015, Design Connect Create is a nonprofit STEM program for girls in Texas. We exist because women are underrepresented in critical STEM careers. For women to lead in these roles tomorrow, girls need equitable opportunities today to explore STEM and discover their innate potential.

We believe in the enormous potential of ALL girls, but research shows they don’t receive the encouragement and support needed to pursue STEM studies and careers. This is especially true for girls from Black and Latino families who are less likely to see women who look like themselves working in STEM careers.

Through our summer STEM camps and LeadHER mentoring program, we equip girls with STEM understanding and critical life skills, so they can thrive in any classroom or career. Our unique combination of STEM skills and career exposure—with a focus on emotional intelligence—truly prepares girls to thrive in STEM and beyond.
